  • I quit 20 years ago and like the man in the video, encouragement from my wife-to-be was a big contributor to my desire and success.


    I also needed a couple of tries and a couple of approaches.  But for me the strongest help came from continually reminding myself that the "choice was mine."  Each time I chose to light up or not, bring my hand to my mouth or not, etc., I would ask myself "who is in charge?"  "Who is making me do what I clearly know is wrong, unhealthy, dumb, weak, expensive... ?"  I would answer myself that it was just me and just me could choose differently.  And it was amazing how great I felt when I took charge and established a my self control.
